CHILD-FRIENDLY THE HIDDEN POISONS THAT HARM THE HEART!
Ephesians 4:31-32 GNT
Get rid of all bitterness,
passion, and anger. No more shouting or insults, no more hateful feelings of
any sort. [32] Instead, be kind and tender-hearted to one another, and forgive
one another, as God has forgiven you through Christ.
The Bible teaches us to
forgive because God has forgiven us. When we refuse to forgive, it becomes like
poison in our hearts. It doesn’t hurt the person who upset us—it hurts us. Dr.
Martin Luther King Jr. said that forgiveness should be our everyday attitude.
If God forgives our big mistakes, we should forgive others too.
Unforgiveness is one of the
enemy’s favourite tricks. It makes us angry, sad, and stressed. Sometimes we
keep remembering what someone did, replaying it in our minds again and again.
But Jesus tells us to forgive, not because it is easy, but because it sets our
hearts free. Matthew 6:12 reminds us that forgiven people must also forgive
others.
Another poison is laziness.
Proverbs 21:25 warns that laziness leads to trouble. God wants us to work hard,
try our best, and not expect everything to come easily. When we don’t use the
gifts and strength God gives us, our lives become messy—just like the field in
Proverbs 24:30–34 that was full of weeds.
Greed is another poison.
Jeremiah 6:13 says many people wanted more and more. Greed makes us think only
about ourselves. It says, “I want everything. I won’t share.” But God wants us
to be thankful, generous, and content with what we have.
These poisons—unforgiveness,
laziness, and greed—hurt our hearts and our walk with God. But God gives us the
cure:
- Forgiveness brings
peace.
- Hard work brings
growth.
- Contentment brings
joy.
Ephesians 4:31–32 tells us
to put away anger and be kind, loving, and forgiving—just like Jesus.
Do yourself a favour—choose
forgiveness, choose kindness, choose God’s way.
