CHILD-FRIENDLY THE SPIRITUAL DEFENCE SYSTEM (SDS)!

Ephesians 6:11-17 GNT

Put on all the armor that God gives you, so that you will be able to stand up against the Devil's evil tricks. [12] For we are not fighting against human beings but against the wicked spiritual forces in the heavenly world, the rulers, authorities, and cosmic powers of this dark age. [13] So put on God's armor now! Then when the evil day comes, you will be able to resist the enemy's attacks; and after fighting to the end, you will still hold your ground. [14] So stand ready, with truth as a belt tight around your waist, with righteousness as your breastplate, [15] and as your shoes the readiness to announce the Good News of peace. [16] At all times carry faith as a shield; for with it you will be able to put out all the burning arrows shot by the Evil One. [17] And accept salvation as a helmet, and the word of God as the sword which the Spirit gives you.

 

Just like people wore PPE during the pandemic to protect themselves, God has given His children something even better—a Spiritual Defence System. This is called the Armour of God, and it keeps us safe from the enemy we cannot see.

The world’s PPE can tear, break, or fail. But God’s armour never fails. It protects our hearts, minds, and lives every single day. We need this armour because we face spiritual battles—things like fear, lies, temptation, anger, and confusion. These are like invisible “viruses” that try to weaken us. But God has given us everything we need to stay strong.

Here is what your SDS includes:

Helmet of Salvation – Protects your mind and reminds you that you belong to Jesus. 

Breastplate of Righteousness – Guards your heart and helps you choose what is right. 

Belt of Truth – Helps you stand firm and stay honest. 

Shield of Faith – Blocks the enemy’s lies and fears. 

Sandals of Peace – Help you walk calmly and confidently. 

Sword of the Spirit – God’s Word, which helps you fight back and win.

Just like a soldier never goes into battle without armour, we should never start our day without putting on God’s armour. We do this by praying, reading the Bible, obeying God, and trusting Him. When we wear our SDS every day, we become strong warriors for Jesus.

The battle may be tough, but God is stronger. And with His armour, we can stand firm and win.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

·       Which part of God’s armour do I need to use more? 

·       What “spiritual virus” has tried to make me afraid or discouraged? 

·       How can I use God’s Word as my sword today?

PRAYER: Oh Lord, thank You for giving me Your armour to keep me safe. Help me to wear my SDS every day and stay strong in You. Amen.
