CHILD-FRIENDLY STAY IN THE BOAT!

Matthew 8:23-27 GNT

Jesus got into a boat, and his disciples went with him. [24] Suddenly a fierce storm hit the lake, and the boat was in danger of sinking. But Jesus was asleep. [25] The disciples went to him and woke him up. "Save us, Lord!" they said. "We are about to die!" [26] "Why are you so frightened?" Jesus answered. "What little faith you have!" Then he got up and ordered the winds and the waves to stop, and there was a great calm. [27] Everyone was amazed. "What kind of man is this?" they said. "Even the winds and the waves obey him!"

 

Imagine a small boat, a big storm, and Jesus sleeping right in the middle of it! It sounds scary, but this story teaches us something important: even when life feels confusing or frightening, Jesus is with us.

Sometimes life feels like a storm. Things go wrong, we feel worried, or we don’t know what to do. We may even want to cry out like the disciples, “Jesus, don’t You care?” But Jesus was in the boat with them — and He is in your “boat” too.

Your heart and life are like a boat that carries Jesus. Colossians 3:13 says Christ lives in us. So even when you feel shaken by problems, Jesus has not left you. He is always in control.

The disciples were scared because they looked at the storm instead of Jesus. Sometimes we do the same. We want Jesus to stop the storm right away, but we forget that the One who can calm the sea is already with us. Psalm 77:16 says the waters see Him — nothing can stop Him from helping you.

If Jesus is in your boat, you will not sink. Stay close to Him. Trust Him. Hold on to Him. Even if it feels like He is “sleeping,” He is still watching over you.

When life gets hard, God also sends people — family, friends, teachers — to help us until the storm passes.

So don’t jump out of the boat. Don’t give up. Stay with Jesus, and He will bring you safely through every storm.

• What part of my life feels stormy right now? 

• Am I focusing on the storm or on Jesus who is with me? 

• How can I “stay in the boat” and trust Jesus more this week?

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, thank You for staying with me in every storm. Help me trust You, stay close to You, and rest in Your peace. I choose to stay in the boat with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
