CHILD-FRIENDLY WHAT ELSE DO I HAVE?

Judges 18:24 GNT

Micah answered, "What do you mean, 'What's the matter?' You take my priest and the gods that I made, and walk off What have I got left?"

God should always be the One we trust the most!

In Judges 18:24, Micah cried, “You have taken away my gods and my priest. What else do I have?” He felt scared and empty because everything he trusted could be taken away. His “gods” were things he made. His priest was someone he hired. None of them could truly protect him.

Micah’s words teach us something important:

Anything we build without God can be taken away, but what God gives us can never be stolen.

Sometimes life changes suddenly.

A friend moves away.

A plan doesn’t work out.

Something we love gets lost.

And we may feel like Micah and think, “What else do I have?”

But Micah’s problem was that he trusted the wrong things. His foundation was weak. When we trust God, our foundation is strong because God never changes.

Psalm 20:7 reminds us that some people trust in things, but we trust in the name of the Lord. Psalm 27:1 says God is our strength, so we don’t need to be afraid.

Many people in the Bible learned this too:

- Job lost everything but still trusted God.

- David was chased and tired but said God was all he needed.

- Paul lost many things but said knowing Jesus was worth more than anything.

Sometimes God lets things fall away so we can hold onto Him more tightly. And when we do, we discover that God is enough.

God whispers to us, “You still have Me—and having Me means you have everything.”

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

·       What things have I trusted that can be taken away?

·       Has God used hard times to help me trust Him more?

·       What does it mean for me to say, “God is my portion”?

PRAYER: Father, when life shakes the things, I hold onto, help me hold onto You. Be my strength and my foundation. Teach me to trust You more each day. Amen.
