CHILD-FRIENDLY YOUR CHILD’S VOICE MATTERS!

2 Kings 4:6 Voice

Soon all of the containers were filled. Woman: Bring me another container. Son: There aren't any left. It was then that the oil ran out.

 

The Bible shows us something very important: God listens to children, and their voices matter to Him. In 2 Kings 4:6, a miracle happened in a home—and a child was right there helping. When the mother said, “Bring me another vessel,” it was her son who answered, “There is not another.” His words marked the moment the miracle shifted. His voice mattered.

Children are not too young for God. They are part of His story!

All through the Bible, God uses children in powerful ways:

• Samuel heard God’s voice before Eli did (1 Samuel 3). 

• A little servant girl helped Naaman find healing (2 Kings 5:2–3). 

• A boy’s lunch fed thousands (John 6:8–11). 

• Jesus said children can praise God in a special way (Psalm 8:2).

Children often see and feel things adults miss. Their hearts are open, their faith is simple, and their words are honest. That is why Jesus said we must become like children to enter God’s kingdom (Matthew 18:3).

In many homes, children are told to be quiet or stay out of the way. But God shows us that children can carry wisdom, encouragement, warnings, and even answers to prayer.

Your voice matters to God. 

Your prayers matter. 

Your questions matter. 

Your thoughts matter. 

Just like the boy in 2 Kings 4 helped his mother, God can use you too.

Parents and adults should make room for children to speak, pray, and share what they feel. When we listen to children, we honour the God who speaks through them.

·       Do I believe God listens to me when I pray or speak? 

·       Have I ever felt something in my heart that I think came from God? 

·       How can I use my voice to help, encourage, or pray for others?

PRAYER: Father, thank You for listening to children. Help me use my voice to honour You. Fill me with wisdom, courage, and faith. Let me grow in hearing You and speaking Your truth. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
