PIDGIN COME AND SEE!
John 1:35–39 “Wen day break, John with en two disciple stand for outside. 36Dem kon dey look Jesus wen e dey waka pass, den John kon sey, “Make una look! Na dat pesin bi God Sheep.” 37 Wen John two disciples hear wetin e tok, dem kon follow Jesus. 38 Jesus look back kon si di disciples dey follow am. Den e ask dem, “Wetin una wont?”
Dem ansa am, “Oga God, (wey
mean Tisha) where yu dey stay?” 39 Jesus ansa dem, “Make una kom si am.” So dem
go si di place wey e dey stay kon stay with am dat day. Dat time na about for
oklok for aftanoon.
Come and see na invitation
wey dey echo through Scripture like gentle call from God heart. E simple, but e
get deep power to change life. Dis three words show for key moments for
Bible—moments wey God reveal Himself, call people enter deeper faith, and draw
dem into personal encounter. “Come and see” no be just instruction; na
invitation into revelation, relationship, and response.
Come and see na invitation
to revelation. When John the Baptist point to Jesus and talk, “Behold, the Lamb
of God!”, two of him disciples start to follow Jesus immediately. Jesus sense
their hunger, turn ask dem, “Wetin una dey find?” Dem answer, “Rabbi, where You
dey stay?” Jesus reply with timeless invitation: “Come and see.”
This moment show us
something beautiful about God nature. Jesus no overload dem with explanation or
hand dem theology book. Instead, Him invite dem enter experience. For Kingdom,
revelation dey come through relationship. E dey unfold as we waka with Him,
stay with Him, and remain in Him presence. Jesus dey invite us no be only to
learn about Him, but to know Him.
Come and see na invitation
to witness God works. When Philip find Nathanael and tell am about Jesus of
Nazareth, Nathanael reply with doubt: “Anything good fit come out from
Nazareth?” Philip no argue. E just say, “Come and see.”
This one teach us say best
answer to doubt no be pressure, but invitation. When people encounter Jesus by
themselves, their heart go change. Nathanael move from doubt to worship in one
encounter, declare, “Rabbi, You na di Son of God!” Sometimes our role na just
to carry people come meet Jesus and trust Holy Spirit make Him do the
rest.
Come and see na invitation
to behold God power. Psalm 66:5 talk say, “Come and see what God has done, Him
awesome works for mankind.” Here, “come and see” na call to remember and
celebrate God mighty acts. E dey invite us to look back at Him faithfulness and
make e strengthen our present faith.
When we pause to come and
see wetin God don do for our life—doors wey Him open, battles wey Him fight,
mercies wey Him show—our heart go become anchored for gratitude and trust.
Remembering God works dey fuel confidence for future.
Come and see na invitation
to compassion. For Lazarus tomb, mourners tell Jesus, “Lord, come and see.” Dem
invite Him enter their grief, pain, and loss. And Jesus cry.
This moment show tender
truth: God no dey far from our sorrow. When we say, “Lord, come and see,” Him
enter our broken places with compassion. Him no dey rush us. Him no dey rebuke
us. Him dey cry with us—and then Him dey bring resurrection life. Him presence
inside our pain na part of Him healing.
Come and see na invitation
to encounter risen Christ. For John 20:27, after resurrection, Thomas struggle
to believe. Jesus no shame am for him doubt. Instead, Him invite Thomas come
near: “Put your finger here… see My hands.” This na another form of “come and
see”—invitation to bring our questions, fear, and uncertainty into presence of
risen Lord.
Jesus dey meet us where we
dey, but Him never dey leave us there. Him invitation dey carry us from doubt
enter faith, from confusion enter clarity, from fear enter confidence.
Wetin “Come and See” mean
for us today:
Na call to seek Jesus
personally, no be second-hand.
Na invitation to witness God
work for our life and for other people life.
Na reminder say God welcome
our questions, doubts, and pain.
Na commission to invite
others enter Jesus presence—not through pressure, but through love.
Every day, Jesus dey whisper
this word to us: “Come and see.”
Come and see My
goodness.
Come and see My mercy.
Come and see My power.
Come and see My heart for
you.
