PIDGIN COMPROMISE!

Deuteronomy 5:31–33

31 But make yu nor follow dem go, yu go dey here with mi, so dat I go fit tell yu all di kommand, rules and law wey yu go tish dem, so dat dem go dey do dem for di land wey I go give dem.” 32 So make una dey kareful kon do as di Oga una God kommand; make una nor turn go rite or left! 33 Make una dey do just as E kommand una, so dat una nor go die; evritin go dey well with una and una go stay long for di land wey una dey go. 

  

Compromise mean different thing to different people, and many dey see am as matter of personal opinion. But for spiritual side, compromise no suppose be person own idea. The normal meaning of compromise na when two sides agree by giving up small in small ways to reach agreement—many times, e mean to accept something wey low pass wetin suppose be. For normal relationship between people, compromise dey help us grow, adjust, and live in peace. But when e reach spiritual matter, compromise dey dangerous. God way straight, pure, and no be something wey person fit bend. Him truth no fit mix with human ideas, cultural trend, or any teaching wey no match wetin God Word talk. When we do that one, we open door to things wey no align with Kingdom standard. 

Daniel and him three friends understand this thing well. For Daniel 1:8–14, dem negotiate respectfully with the Babylon official about food matter. Dem agree for method—ten days testing—but dem no gree touch the principle. Dem refuse to mix wetin God teach dem with Babylon way. From that, we learn say sometimes compromise fit be way to negotiate for peace, but only if e no go violate God truth. 

It get time to compromise and time to stand firm. But today, many Christians dey bend their faith because of trend, fame, or acceptance. People dey twist Bible to fit wetin dem want, even though 2 Peter 1:20 talk say Scripture no dey open for private interpretation. God Word pure, no mixture, and e no dey change. Once we begin compromise God truth—even small—we don open door for enemy to enter be dat. Small concession fit turn to big downfall. When evil want make way, e just need small crack. To give small to sin, sometimes na to give all. 

To compromise God Word, God way, or standard na to trade holiness for worldliness. To give up one ounce of holiness just to gain one pound of worldly favour no be benefit—na big loss with eternal consequence. The real test of good compromise be this simple question: both sides win but God truth still stand? If not, e no pure. Any compromise wey make you give too much just to gain small no worth am. 

Hebrews 3:12–13 warn us make we stand alert, especially when we dey around people wey no dey see sin as sin again. When we dey inside environment wey wrong don become normal, we fit begin agree to small small things wey look harmless but still be sin. If person dey continue to compromise for place wey God don tell am to stand firm, e go soon lose him sense to sin. Small sin wey person dey overlook fit grow into full lifestyle of sin. 

Many things wey sweet or look enjoyable dey last small, like Hebrews 11:25 talk. Moses refuse to compromise. Even though he grow for Pharaoh palace with wealth, influence, and enjoyment for Exodus 2:10, he choose to identify with people of God. He reject temporary enjoyment because he know say eternal reward better pass. Moses show us say if we refuse to compromise, e fit pain us for short time, but e go secure our destiny for eternity. 

Now we dey live for world wey reward bad behavior but punish righteousness. Society dey force people to compromise everything—even matter wey concern eternal life. Like Daniel and him friends, we must stand politely but firmly for wetin correct. We must refuse to accept world way wey low pass Bible standard. 

Compromise no be only when person make wrong deal — sometimes na when person no act even when e sabi wetin right. To keep quiet when evil dey happen na agreement with wrong. To see sin and do nothing na another kind of compromise. 

No compromise your spiritual race. Waka for the path wey God set before you. Stay aligned with Him Word. Stand firm inside truth. And make your life reflect the holiness of the One wey call you.

·       For which area of my life I dey most tempted to compromise, and wetin dey make am hard for me to stand firm? 

·       How Daniel, him friends, and Moses example dey challenge me to hold God standard even when people no like am or e cost plenty? 

·       Which practical step I fit take this week to avoid spiritual compromise and make my stand for God strong well‑well? 

PRAYER: Dear Lord, help me make I hold Your Word strong and no ever compromise my integrity and principles. Give me strength to stand firm for righteousness no matter the pressure wey dey around me. In Jesus name, Amen.
