PIDGIN NEW AND IMPROVED!

2 Korintian 5:17  “7 So, if any man dey inside Christ, e don dey new, Christ don klean di bad tins wey e do before and evritin don turn to new one!

 

We dey often see one phrase for products: “New and Improved.” E dey show say dem don upgrade am, make am better, or change am well well. But no earthly product fit carry the kind deep, permanent, and powerful change wey God dey do for person wey believe am. When heaven talk say person “new and improved,” e no be advertisement talk — na real spiritual matter wey the blood of Jesus seal and the Holy Spirit activate. 

Paul explain this truth clear for the text. This no be small small repair. No be outside change. Na complete new creation — God change your identity, desire, purpose, and destiny finish. 

Na new position wey improvement dey follow. The moment we receive Christ, we become new for position. Our sins don dey forgiven according to Colossians 1:14, our names dey written for heaven according to Luke 10:20, and we don enter God family according to Romans 8:15. This one happen instantly. Nothing fit add to am, nothing fit remove from am. 

But the improvement — the shaping, refining, pruning, and maturing — dey happen small small as time dey go. Na sanctification work be this. Romans 12:2 call am renewing of the mind. Ezekiel 36:26 talk say God go give us new heart and new spirit. Philippians 1:6 assure us say the God wey start this good work go continue am till Christ come. 

You new by birth. 

You dey improved by growth. 

This na new identity with improved character. When God make us new, He give us new identity. But identity suppose show for character. Look Peter. Jesus call am “Rock” for John 1:42 before Peter even behave like rock. He be impulsive, emotional, and no steady. But Jesus see the improved version before Peter live am out. 

Through failure, correction, encounters, and Holy Spirit fire, Peter become strong, bold, and stable apostle wey preach for Acts 2 and lead the early church. Him identity new. Him character improve. 

God dey do the same thing for us. He call us righteous, holy, chosen, beloved — then He dey work daily to shape us into wetin He don already call us. 

This na new desires with improved discernment. New life for Christ come with new desires: 

-  Hunger for righteousness (Matthew 5:6) 

-  Thirst for God presence (Psalm 42:1) 

-  Desire to please God (2 Corinthians 5:9) 

But desire alone no reach. E must join with discernment. Samson get calling but no get discernment, and e cost am well well for Judges 16. Joseph get both desire and discernment. He run from temptation, honour God, and enter destiny for Genesis 39–41. 

Holy Spirit dey improve our discernment so we fit manage our new desires well. 

Improved obedience bring new vision. When God make us new, He give us fresh vision — purpose, direction, and calling. But vision without obedience na just imagination. Abraham receive new vision for Genesis 12, but na obedience improve am become father of faith. Every step — leaving home, building altars, trusting God for Isaac — refine am. 

Obedience na the workshop where God dey improve Him children. 

New life for Christ come with new hope according to 1 Peter 1:3. But hope must strong through endurance. James 1:2–4 teach say trials dey improve us, produce patience, maturity, and completeness. God no dey waste pain. He dey use am polish us. 

Gold new when dem mine am, but e improved when dem refine am. 

Believers new at salvation but improved through sanctification. 

Hebrews 8:6 talk say Jesus be mediator of better covenant, wey stand on better promises. Everything for Christ new and improved — better access, better grace, better mercy, better hope, better glory. We no be patched-up version of old self. We be Spirit-born, heaven-designed, purpose-filled people. 

God work for you no be outside change. Na deep transformation. 

No be temporary, but eternal. 

No be human, but divine. 

You be God “new and improved” masterpiece as Ephesians 2:10 talk. 

REFLECTION QUESTIONS 

·       For which area of my life I still dey behave like old me, even though God don make me new? 

·       Wetin Holy Spirit dey currently improve for my character, obedience, or discernment? 

·       How I go fit cooperate better with God refining process this week? 

PRAYER: Father, thank You say You don make me new for Christ and You still dey improve me through Your Spirit. Remove anything for my life wey still look like old life, and strengthen everything wey reflect the new life. Shape my desires, sharpen my discernment, deepen my obedience, and refine my character. Make me living testimony of Your transforming power. In Jesus name, Amen.
