PIDGIN TRUTH WITH GRACE: THE WAY OF CHRIST!
John 1:14 “Den di Word kon shange to pesin and e stay with us for dis world. Wi si en glory wey show sey, naim bi di only pikin wey get korrect favor and trut, wey God send kom meet us.
Truth without grace fit
break person heart. Grace without truth fit leave person dey wander. But when
truth and grace waka together, just like dem dey in Christ Jesus, hearts dey
change, wounds dey heal, and lives dey restored back to God design.
Bible tell us say Jesus come
“full of grace and truth.” No be half grace and half-truth. No be grace some
days and truth some days. He carry both complete, perfect, and steady. And He
dey call Him followers make dem do the same.
The tension we all dey feel
dey come because most of us naturally dey lean one side. Some people be
truth-tellers — bold, clear, no fear. Others be grace-givers — gentle, patient,
compassionate. But kingdom need both. Truth dey call us go higher; grace dey
lift us when we fall. Truth dey confront sin; grace dey restore sinner. Truth
dey show wetin wrong; grace dey show wetin possible.
When we separate the two, we
dey distort God heart.
When we join them together,
we dey reveal Am.
Jesus na our perfect example
for both. Consider the woman wey dem catch for adultery for John 8:1–11. The
religious leaders bring her come Jesus with stone for hand to stone her and
condemnation for their mouth. Dem get truth — but no grace. Jesus answer with
both.
He protect her dignity: “I
no condemn you at all.”
Grace.
Then He call her go higher:
“Go, make you no sin again.”
Truth.
He no excuse her sin, and He
no shame her. He lift her from ground and point her toward freedom. This na
truth with grace — truth wey dey heal, no be truth wey dey injure; grace wey
dey transform, no be grace wey dey enable.
Truth with grace for our
relationships dey very important. Paul urge believers make dem “speak the truth
in love” for Ephesians 4:15. Harsh truth wey dem speak fit harden heart. Truth
wey dem speak with love fit open heart. Grace without truth fit sound kind for
the moment, but e dey leave people bound. Truth without grace fit sound
righteous, but e dey leave people wounded.
To waka like Jesus na to
hold both.
- When you dey correct
pikin, give truth with tenderness.
- When you dey confront
friend, speak truth with humility.
- When you dey call person
back to God, extend truth with compassion.
- When you dey deal with
your own failure, receive truth with grace.
Grace no dey weaken truth; e
dey strengthen am. Truth no dey cancel grace; e dey complete am.
We must express truth with
grace for our witness, as Peter instruct believers to share their hope “with
gentleness and respect” for 1 Peter 3:15. The gospel itself na perfect blend of
truth and grace:
- Truth: We be sinners wey
dey separated from God.
- Grace: Christ suffer once
for sin to bring us close to God.
The cross na the meeting
place of both. Truth nail Am there. Grace keep Am there. Truth expose our need.
Grace meet our need.
When we share Christ, we no
dey shout truth at the world; we dey invite the world enter grace. We no hide
truth make message soft; we dey reveal truth wey dey wrapped inside the love
wey save us.
Truth with grace for our
inner life! Sometimes the hardest place to practice truth with grace na inside
us. Either we dey condemn ourselves without mercy, or we dey excuse ourselves
too quick. But the Holy Spirit dey lead us differently.
He convict — truth.
He comfort — grace.
He correct — truth.
He strengthen — grace.
He no dey shame us. He no
dey flatter us. He dey shape us.
When we allow God truth
search us and Him grace restore us, we dey grow into the likeness of Christ —
full of grace and truth.
Make Proverbs 3:3–4 guide
you — “No allow mercy and truth waka comot from your life; hold dem tight like
something wey you tie for your neck.
REFLECTION QUESTIONS
· Where I dey lean pass —
toward truth or toward grace — and how Holy Spirit dey invite me make I
grow?
· Who for my life need to
experience truth wrapped in grace through me this week?
· How Jesus don show me both
truth and grace recently, and how I fit respond to Him today?
PRAYER: Father, fill my
heart with the spirit of Jesus — full of grace and full of truth. Teach me to
speak truth with tenderness, to give grace with wisdom, and to love others the
way You don love me. Make my words heal, my actions restore, and my life reflect
Your heart. Shape me into vessel of both truth and grace, for Your glory.
Amen.
