PIDGIN WHAT ELSE DO I HAVE?

Judges 18:24 “Mikah ansa, “Wetin una mean by, ‘Wetin happen?’ Una don take all di gods wey I make and my priest dey go, wetin remain for mi naw!”

 

God na and suppose be our only anchor! 

For Judges 18:24, Micah face the Danites with deep pain as e cry: “Una don carry my gods and my priest go. Wetin remain again for me?” The way e talk show loss, fear, and the bitter truth say everything wey e depend on no strong. Dem fit steal im “gods.” Dem fit carry im priest. Im security fit disappear sharp sharp. 

“Wetin remain for me?” — na very sad thing for person wey be Israelite to talk. Israel na nation wey get covenant with the one true God. And e still sad say some people today still get nothing apart from idols and human helpers — which mean say dem no really get anything at all. 

Micah cry show us deeper truth: demfit take anything wey we build outside God, but wetin God give, nobody fit steal am. 

When life happen, e fit strip person finish. Sometimes e go feel like say life don empty our hands. Job go end. Relationship go break. Dream go scatter. Season go change without warning. And like Micah, we go ask, “Wetin remain for me?” 

But Micah question show say im foundation weak. Him gods na handmade. Him priest na hired one. Him security na something wey e build by himself. When everything wey we dey rely on collapse, na then we go know whether our hope dey inside God or inside things wey just look like God. 

Psalm 20:7 remind us say, “Some trust chariots, some trust horses; but we go remember the name of the Lord our God.” And Psalm 27:1 talk say, “The Lord na the strength of my life; who I go fear?” 

When wetin we build shake, wetin God build go still stand — when God be our only answer. 

It get one holy place where soul go stand before God with empty hands — and go discover say that emptiness no be curse, but invitation. When everything else comot, we go discover the treasure wey we never lose — God Himself. 

Job understand this matter. After e lose everything, e say: “The Lord give, and the Lord take; blessed be the name of the Lord.” (Job 1:21). Job worship no depend on things, but on God Himself. 

David understand am. As dem pursue, betray, and tire am, e cry: “Who I get for heaven apart from You? And for earth, nothing I desire pass You.” (Psalm 73:25). 

Paul understand am. Even for prison and suffering, e write: “I count everything loss because of the excellence of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.” (Philippians 3:8). 

When God become our only answer, we go discover say He dey more than enough. 

Sometimes God dey allow dem to remove the things wey we hold tight — no be to punish us, but to free us. Micah loss show the emptiness of im idols. Our own losses dey reveal where our trust don shift go. So loss fit become door to mercy. 

But God no dey leave us for ruins. Im mercy dey meet us there. 

- He restore Job with double. 

- He strengthen David till e become king. 

- He turn Paul to apostle wey shake the world. 

- He rebuild Peter after im failure. 

- He revive Naomi after bitterness. 

Loss no be the end. Many times, na beginning of deeper revelation of God’s mercy. 

God dey whisper through the broken pieces: “You still get Me — and if you get Me, you get everything.” 

We don ever think about wetin we really get for God? 

When we ask, “Wetin remain for me?” heaven dey answer: 

- You get Papa wey no go ever leave you (Deuteronomy 31:6) 

- You get Shepherd wey dey restore your soul (Psalm 23:3) 

- You get Savior wey dey intercede for you (Hebrews 7:25) 

- You get Holy Spirit wey dey strengthen you (Ephesians 3:16) 

- You get promises wey no fit fail (2 Corinthians 1:20) 

- You get hope wey no fit shake (Hebrews 6:19) 

Everything else fit change, but God no dey change. 

And when God be your portion, you no fit ever empty. 

REFLECTION QUESTIONS 

·       Where I don unknowingly put my security for things wey fit be taken from me? 

·       How God don use seasons of loss or change to draw me closer to Him? 

·       Wetin e mean for me personally to talk say, “God na my portion”? 

PRAYER: Father, when life shake the things wey I dey hold, anchor me for You. Remove every false security and draw my heart closer to trust You more. Be my portion, my strength, and my solid foundation wey no fit shake. Teach me to talk with confidence say, “Who I get for heaven apart from You?” For every season, help me see say You dey enough. Amen.
