PRAYER IS KEY!
Mark 11:24 AMPC
For this reason I am telling
you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe (trust and be confident) that it
is granted to you, and you will [get it].
Prayer is one of the
greatest gifts God gave humanity, yet it remains one of the most misunderstood
spiritual disciplines. In a general sense, prayer is the act of asking for a
favour with earnestness and sincerity. But for the believer, prayer is far more
than a request—it is the lifeline of our relationship with God. It is
communication with the Creator, a divine dialogue where we speak and God
responds. Too often, we treat prayer like a one‑way telephone call, forgetting that God
desires to speak back to us, just as He promised in Jeremiah 33:3: “Call unto
me, and I will answer thee…”
Prayer is worship. It is
adoration of God’s majesty, confession of our sins, supplication for mercy,
intercession for others, and thanksgiving for His goodness. It is the
believer’s posture of dependence, humility, and trust. Ephesians 6:18 commands
us to always pray because prayer is not optional—it is essential for survival,
strength, and spiritual victory.
We live in a world where
Satan and his agents constantly attempt to hinder God’s plans for our lives.
Daniel 10:10–13 reveals how demonic forces can resist divine answers, delay
breakthroughs and block deliverance. This is why prayer is key. We are engaged
in spiritual warfare, fighting invisible enemies that cannot be defeated with
human strength or natural weapons. To overcome, we must remain connected to the
supernatural power source, presence, and authority of God.
Prayer activates heaven’s
army. Prayer summons divine intervention. Prayer releases spiritual force.
Even Jesus prayed. Mark 1:35
shows Him rising early to seek the Father, and Hebrews 7:25 reminds us that He
still intercedes for us today. If the Son of God needed prayer, how much more
do we? Prayer is not a religious ritual—it is a necessity.
We pray for everything: our
needs, our desires, our sorrows, our fears, our families, our communities, and
our future. Angels are assigned to work on our behalf, but prayer is what
deploys them. The power generated in prayer is what overturns the strategies of
the enemy. Scripture is filled with testimonies of victory through prayer:
- Jehoshaphat prayed when
surrounded by the armies of Moab and Ammon, and God gave Judah supernatural
victory in 2 Chronicles 20:6.
- Elisha prayed for the
Shunammite woman’s son, and the child was raised from the dead in 2 Kings
4:32–35.
- Peter prayed for Dorcas,
and she was restored to life in Acts 9:36–43.
Through prayer, we invite
God into our circumstances. We seek His direction, intervention, and will.
Prayer keeps the communication line open between us and our Commander—the Lord
of Hosts. It is ongoing fellowship, a continuous relational connection with the
living God who hears and answers according to Psalm 65:2.
Nothing moves the hand of
God like prayer. James 5:16 declares that the prayer of a righteous person is
powerful and effective. Prayer changes things, but more importantly, prayer
changes us. It aligns our hearts with God’s heart and positions us to receive
His promises.
2 Chronicles 7:14 gives us elements
of effective prayer. We must be God’s people - those who bear His name must
call upon Him. We must come with humility because a proud heart cannot pray
effectively. We must seek God’s face, not just His hand but relationship is
required. We must repent and confess, as turning from sin is mandatory for
answered prayer.
Beloved, keep praying. Keep
seeking. Keep knocking. Prayer is key. Prayer is power. Prayer is partnership
with God. Prayer is the believer’s greatest weapon and strongest place of
intimacy. May the Lord strengthen your spirit of prayer and deepen your hunger
for His presence.
