CHILD-FRIENDLY ETERNAL ANCHOR!
Hebrews 6:19 GNT
We have this hope as an
anchor for our lives. It is safe and sure, and goes through the curtain of the
heavenly temple into the inner sanctuary.
Every ship, no matter how
big or beautiful, needs an anchor. Without an anchor, the ship will drift away
— the wind can push it, the water can pull it, and storms can shake it. The
book of Hebrews uses this picture to show what God has given every believer: an
eternal anchor.
This anchor is not
temporary. It is strong, steady, and forever. It is Jesus.
In our world, many things
change — our feelings, our friends, our situations, our health, and even our
strength. But God gives us something that never changes. Hope in Jesus is an
anchor that keeps our hearts steady, even when life feels confusing or scary.
This anchor is built on
God’s promise. Hebrews 6 says God gave two unchanging things: His promise and
His oath. God didn’t have to swear an oath, but He did it to show us how
serious and faithful He is.
This means your hope is not
anchored in how good you are, how you feel, or what is happening around
you.
Your hope is anchored in who
God is.
Abraham held onto hope even
when things looked impossible, because “He who promised is faithful.” His
anchor held!
Anchors are tested in
storms, not in calm weather.
David faced fear and danger
but said, “My heart is steadfast.” His anchor held.
Paul faced trouble and
prison but said, “None of these things move me.” His anchor held.
The disciples panicked in
the storm, but Jesus was calm — because He was the anchor in the boat.
Your storm does not decide
your future. Your anchor does.
This anchor is tied to Jesus
in heaven — not to anything on earth. That is why your heart can rest even when
life feels shaky.
The anchor keeps you from
drifting. Drifting happens slowly — through discouragement, disappointment,
delay, or distraction. But hope in Jesus keeps you steady and strong.
This hope is eternal. It
never breaks, rusts, or fades. It is a living hope, a blessed hope, an anchor
for your soul — for today and for every day.
REFLECTION QUESTIONS
· What
storms or worries are testing my anchor right now?
· Have
I started drifting, and how can I hold onto Jesus again?
· Which
promise from God do I need to remember in this season?
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, thank
You for being the eternal anchor of my soul. When life feels hard, hold me
steady. When storms come, keep me strong. When I feel overwhelmed, remind me
that my hope is in You alone. Strengthen my faith and guide my steps. In Your
name, Amen.
