CHILD-FRIENDLY THE FIRE OF GOD’S PRESENCE!

Exodus 3:2 ICB

There the angel of the Lord appeared to Moses in flames of fire coming out of a bush. Moses saw that the bush was on fire, but it was not burning up.

God’s fire shows that He is close. All through the Bible, when God comes near, something shines or burns with His holy light. God’s fire is not to hurt us — it is to help us. His fire shows what is true, cleans our hearts, and makes us strong to do what is right.

One day, Moses was looking after sheep in the desert. He was not expecting anything special. But suddenly, he saw a bush on fire — and the bush did not burn up! God was in the fire. Moses went closer, and God told him to take off his sandals because the place was holy. God’s fire changed Moses’ life and gave him a big assignment. When God’s fire touches us, it changes us too.

As the Israelites travelled, God stayed with them. At night, He showed His presence as a pillar of fire (Exodus 13:21). The fire helped them see, kept them safe, and reminded them that God never leaves His children.

Later, when God came down on Mount Sinai, there was fire and smoke (Exodus 19:18). The people were afraid, but Moses went closer because he wanted to know God more. God’s fire can feel big and powerful, but it is always good for those who love Him.

Isaiah also saw God’s fire. An angel touched his lips with a hot coal (Isaiah 6:6–7). It did not hurt him — it cleaned his heart and prepared him to speak for God.

In the New Testament, God’s fire came again. John the Baptist said Jesus would baptize people with the Holy Spirit and fire (Matthew 3:11). This happened in Acts 2 when little flames appeared above the disciples’ heads. God’s fire came to live inside them and gave them courage to tell others about Jesus.

God’s fire is still with us today. It helps us love God more, pray better, and choose what is right. It burns away bad attitudes and fills us with joy, peace, and strength. God’s fire helps us shine His light in the world.
