CHILD-FRIENDLY THE LAW OF SACRIFICE!

Psalm 50:5 AMPC  “Gather together to Me My saints… those who have made a covenant with Me by sacrifice.”

 

The law of sacrifice is a very important lesson in the Bible. From the beginning to the end of Scripture, God shows us that great things often happen when someone is willing to give up something for Him. Sacrifice means offering something precious because you love God and want to obey Him. It is not just losing something—it is choosing to give something so God can bring something greater.

Hosea felt this when God told him to marry someone who did not live a good life (Hosea 1:2). 

Jesus also explained sacrifice in John 12:24: “A grain of wheat must fall into the ground and die before it can grow and produce many more seeds.” 

This means nothing grows until something is given up.

Sacrifice began with God. After Adam and Eve sinned, God covered them with animal skins (Genesis 3:21). Something had to be sacrificed to cover their shame. This shows that sacrifice is part of God’s plan to save us.

The greatest sacrifice was Jesus. God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son (John 3:16). Jesus died on the cross to save us. True love gives, and real giving costs something.

In the Bible, people met God in powerful ways after they sacrificed:

- Noah built an altar, and God made a promise (Genesis 8:20–22). 

- Abraham offered Isaac, and God blessed him greatly (Genesis 22:15–18). 

- Solomon gave a big offering, and God gave him wisdom (1 Kings 3:4–13). 

Sacrifice helps us grow. Jesus said we must deny ourselves and follow Him (Matthew 16:24).

Every hero of faith sacrificed something—Moses, Ruth, and Paul. Sacrifice brings power, worship, and a closer walk with God.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

·       What is God asking me to give up so something better can grow? 

·       Which part of my life finds sacrifice hard? 

·       How has sacrifice helped me grow before?

PRAYER: Father, teach me how to sacrifice. Help me obey You with courage and trust. Make my life an altar for Your fire. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
