CHILD-FRIENDLY WRITTEN THREATS!

2 Kings 18–19

Imagine you are living inside the city of Jerusalem a long time ago. A powerful army led by a man named Sennacherib has surrounded your city. The people are afraid because this army is very strong and has defeated many cities before. Everyone is worried, not knowing what will happen next.

Now imagine you are King Hezekiah. You must decide what to do. Then a scary letter arrives. It is a written threat telling you not to trust God and warning that your city will be destroyed. This letter could make anyone afraid.

Sometimes, we also face “written threats” in our lives. These may not be letters from enemies, but they can be things like bad news, problems at school, sickness, or worries that make us feel afraid or unsure.

What did King Hezekiah do?

Instead of panicking, he took the letter to God’s house and spread it out before the Lord. He prayed and told God everything. He trusted that God was bigger than the problem.

This teaches us an important lesson: whenever we are afraid, we can take our worries to God. We can talk to Him honestly and trust Him to help us.

God heard Hezekiah’s prayer. He sent a message through the prophet Isaiah saying that He would fight for His people. And He did! God protected Jerusalem, and the enemy was defeated without the people even fighting.

This shows us that:  God hears our prayers. God is stronger than any problem. God will help those who trust Him.

Today, if you feel worried or afraid, remember Hezekiah. Bring your fears to God, tell Him everything, and trust Him to take care of you.
