CHILD-FRIENDLY YOU ARE NOT GUILTY!
Romans 8:1-8 GNT
There is no condemnation now
for those who live in union with Christ Jesus. [2] For the law of the Spirit,
which brings us life in union with Christ Jesus, has set me free from the law
of sin and death. [3] What the Law could not do, because human nature was weak,
God did. He condemned sin in human nature by sending his own Son, who came with
a nature like our sinful nature, to do away with sin. [4] God did this so that
the righteous demands of the Law might be fully satisfied in us who live
according to the Spirit, and not according to human nature. [5] Those who live
as their human nature tells them to, have their minds controlled by what human
nature wants. Those who live as the Spirit tells them to, have their minds
controlled by what the Spirit wants. [6] To be controlled by human nature
results in death; to be controlled by the Spirit results in life and peace. [7]
And so people become enemies of God when they are controlled by their human
nature; for they do not obey God's law, and in fact they cannot obey it. [8]
Those who obey their human nature cannot please God.
Guilty! This is what every
human being deserves because we all do wrong things. But God showed us His
amazing grace through Jesus Christ and said something different: You are not
guilty.
John 3:18–19 teaches that
anyone who has not accepted Jesus is already guilty before God. When people
break rules on earth, a judge decides their punishment. But God, the highest
Judge, can declare someone innocent even when they have done wrong.
Guilt is not just a feeling.
It is a real condition. Romans 3:10 and 23 tell us that everyone has sinned.
Even if someone doesn’t feel guilty, they still need God’s forgiveness.
We all make mistakes. We all
fall short. But no matter how long we have carried guilt, God is ready to
forgive us when we confess and repent. Romans 5:8 shows that Jesus took our
punishment even while we were still sinning. He paid the price for us.
In Luke 23:43, Jesus told
the thief on the cross, “Today you will be with Me in paradise.” Even though
the man had done many wrong things, Jesus forgave him at the last moment.
Satan tries to accuse us
every day (Revelation 12:10). He wants us to feel ashamed and far from God. But
Jesus is our defence attorney. He stands for us, not against us. Second
Corinthians 5:21 explains that Jesus, who never sinned, took our place so we could
be made right with God.
Romans 8:1 says there is no
condemnation for those who belong to Christ. When we trust Jesus, our sins are
forgiven, and we are free from guilt (Ephesians 1:7). God becomes our Father,
and He declares us not guilty.
You are forgiven.
You are loved.
You are not guilty.
