Blasphemy na serious offence before God. Blasphemy happen when person no give God the honour, respect, and glory wey belong to Him alone. To blaspheme mean to talk or act with disrespect toward God — to behave anyhow with His name, character, works, authority, or attributes. Na insult to God holiness and sovereignty, whether through words, attitude, or actions.

Bible make am clear say anybody wey claim to be God, or act like say dem don replace God, dey put themselves under God judgment. For Ezekiel 28:2, God rebuke the King of Tyre wey boast say, “I be god; I dey sit for god throne.” That kind talk na blasphemy. E fit look like say nothing dey happen for a while, but God go always judge am.

Sadly, blasphemy no dey only among unbelievers. Today, many blasphemous attitudes and behaviours dey even among people wey claim to be Christians. Some ministers don turn God to performer and Him Word to magic formula. Instead of preaching Scripture with fear and trembling, some dey use am like charm to get results, lift themselves up, or justify self‑glorification.

Exodus 20:7 warn us clearly: “You must not misuse the name of the Lord your God. The Lord no go leave anybody unpunished wey misuse Him name.” To misuse God holy name na blasphemy. No be only careless talk; e include people wey carry God name as Him children but live opposite of Him character. To bear God name mean to represent Him; misuse happen when our life disgrace Am.

God response to blasphemy for Scripture show how serious He take am. For Leviticus 24:10–16, dem kill the man wey blaspheme God. Even though we dey under New Covenant now, the passage remind us say God holiness never reduce. Him name still holy, Him glory still dey untouchable.

Dem accuse Jesus Himself of blasphemy because He claim equality with God. The religious leaders think say e no make sense for eternal God to enter human body. Ironically, their accusation show their blindness. Jesus truly be God in flesh, and their rejection become blasphemy against God redemptive work.

Blasphemy also happen when person curse God, even inside pain or suffering. Job wife tell am make he curse God and die, but Job refuse to sin with him mouth (Job 2:8–10). Him answer teach us say we must honour God even inside hardship.

Today, many religious leaders and believers dey guilty of subtle blasphemy, dey act like God, claim authority without submission, or use Scripture to push personal ambition. Innocent people dey dey misled by teachers, prophets, and pastors wey shout “Thus says the Lord,” when their message no match God Word.

Even Apostle Paul talk say him too na a blasphemer once (1 Timothy 1:13). He think say he dey do right, but he persecute the church and try force others to blaspheme. Him story show say sincerity no dey equal truth, and zeal without knowledge fit lead person into serious sin.

Blasphemy no dey limited to talk. We blaspheme God when we take Him glory for ourselves. Sennacherib mock the God of Israel by comparing am to idols (Isaiah 36–37). The king for Daniel 11:36 lift himself above every god. That kind pride dey attract God judgment.

Jesus warn about one dangerous type of blasphemy — blasphemy against the Holy Spirit (Mark 3:22–30). The Pharisees see God power with their eyes but say na demon work. Today, the danger don shift: Satan dey disguise him work like God work, and we need strong discernment.

Finally, Jesus talk for Luke 10:16 say, “Anybody wey accept your message accept Me… anybody wey reject Me reject God.” To misrepresent Christ na to misrepresent God.

We must guard our hearts, words, doctrine, and behaviour, make sure say for everything we do, God dey honoured as holy.
