Ezra 2:59-62 “Dis na di ones wey kom from Tel-Melah, Tel-Harsha, Kerub, Addon and Imma (aldo dem nor fit show weda dem really kom from Israel tribe), di family na: 60 Delaaya, Tobaya and Nekoda shidren-shidren and dem bi 652. 61 Dis na some among di priests family wey dem nor fit show sey dem bi Israel pipol: Hobaaya, Hakkoz, Barzillai (wey marry one of Barzillai dotas, wey bi Gilead pesin and e kon dey ansa en fada-in-law name.) 62 Since dem nor fit prove who dia grand-grand papa bi, dem nor kon asept dem as priest. 63 So di govnor tell dem sey dem nor go fit chop di food wey dem offa give God, until di land don get priest wey go use Urim and Tummim.

To rewrite something mean to write am again to correct or improve am — maybe because dem spell am wrong, write am wrongly, or e need small change like adding extra letter, hyphen, or another name to doublebarrel the one wey dey already.

Name carry meaning, history, and identity. For Bible, name dey show person character, assignment, or season for life. Na why damaged name fit feel like damaged future, and restored name fit feel like hope don return. When God enter person story, He no just cover shame — He dey redeem, restore, and give new meaning to wetin look broken before.

You need to rewrite your name because something don happen wey damage your name? Proverbs 22:1 talk say good name better pass great riches and more precious than costly perfume.

Why person go need rewrite name? Many reasons fit cause am, and e dey legal to change name wey no suitable or simply choose new one.

All of us get responsibility to maintain family posterity, especially when e reach family names. We suppose protect and preserve good reputation of wellhonoured name so that the legacy go continue.

According to 2 Corinthians 5:1617, our names, identities, and destinies don rewrite when we become followers of Christ we become brandnew people. As believers, na our duty to protect and preserve the purity of our new name.

This mean say for Christ, we no be prisoners of old verdicts, family failures, or labels wey people give us. God fit break rejection, disgrace, and false identity. He dey call us by purpose, not pain; by redemption, not regret. When we agree with wetin God talk about us, we begin walk with confidence, purity, and spiritual authority.

You need rewritten name? Wetin happen wey make you feel say your name need rewrite? Enemy fit create situations wey damage your name, identity, and destiny. But no matter wetin happen, Jesus fit still rewrite your name.

Israelites protect their family line well to keep God people pure. But some groups, including priests, no fit prove their family name or lineage.

Imagine say you dey find record of your family name and you no see anything. Some names don lost through marriage, adoption, crime, immigration, or even misspelling and wrong pronunciation.

Which category you dey if you need your name rewritten

The priest, understanding Proverbs 22:1, quickly hold the good name of Barzillai children wey dem marry. He prefer that name pass him own family name, because e feel say that family noble than Levi. But because of worldly ambition, he lose the dignity and privilege of priesthood wey God give am.

Na so many believers today don drop the names God give them to carry lesser names wey enemy want give them.

When relationship break and lead to separation or divorce, person fit rewrite name to reflect wetin e be before or to reclaim identity.

When Christ die, we die with Him (Romans 6:810), and we rise with Him. That moment, our names change to match our new identity in Christ. Even though we still answer our given names, we no longer known as sinner, adulterer, murderer, criminal, or anything wey we be before Christ because our names don rewrite, and more importantly, dem dey written inside Book of Life (Philippians 4:3).

We fit rewrite our names physically with pen, or spiritually with simple prayer of faith. If you need am, ask God for grace and opportunity to rewrite your name.

So no settle for name wey pain, failure, sin, or people don give you. Bring every broken identity to God and allow Him speak again over your life. He still be God wey dey change stories, restore honour, and give beauty for ashes. If your name don associate with sorrow, disappointment, or reproach, God fit rewrite your life testimony for His glory.
