PIDGIN YOU ARE NOT GUILTY!

“Guilty!” this kind verdict suppose dey hang on top every human being. By nature and by wetin we dey do, all of us don sin, break God law, and fall short of Him glory. But God show Him grace through Jesus Christ and give us one verdict wey no earthly court fit ever talk: Not guilty.

John 3:18–19 talk say every unbeliever and every backslider dey guilty before God because dem never accept Jesus as Saviour. For human court, person dey innocent until dem prove am guilty. Dem go gather evidence, call witness, and judge or jury go give sentence. But for heaven court, God — wey sabi everything, dey see everything, and dey judge well — dey declare guilty people innocent because of wetin Jesus do finish for cross.

Guilt no be first feeling; na legal and spiritual condition. Whether person feel guilty or not, e no change how God see am. Bible talk am clear: “Nobody righteous” and “all of us don sin” (Romans 3:10, 23). We sin by nature and by choice. We break God moral, ethical, and spiritual laws, and the punishment for sin na death (Romans 6:23).

But God mercy no gree leave us for condemnation. No matter how we reach that guilty place, or how long we don carry shame, God dey ready to declare us not guilty if we confess and repent. Romans 5:8 talk say, “While we still dey sin, Christ die for us.” Before we find forgiveness, Jesus don take our punishment. Before we even admit guilt, He don enter heaven courtroom take our sentence.

Luke 23:43 show am well. The thief wey sin all him life receive last‑minute pardon. For the point of death, Jesus give am heavenly “get‑out‑of‑jail” card: “Today you go dey with Me for paradise.” The guilty man enter eternity justified — no be because of works, but because of Christ mercy.

Satan, the accuser, still dey shout “Guilty!” over God children. Revelation 12:10 talk say he dey accuse us day and night, dey list our failures and sins. But Jesus, our defence attorney, stand for us. He no deny our sin; He show Him blood as evidence say we don clean.

2 Corinthians 5:21 show the divine exchange: the One wey no sin take our place, make we fit become God righteousness. Romans 3:21–26 explain say Jesus satisfy justice so God fit declare sinners righteous.

Guilt fit break person spirit. E fit bring shame, fear, and hopelessness. But Romans 8:1 announce freedom: “No condemnation for anybody wey dey in Christ Jesus.” As we dey walk by the Spirit, condemnation no get legal right over us again. Case don close. Charges don drop. Record don wipe.

When we trust Christ, God forgive our sins and free us from eternal punishment (Ephesians 1:7). Jesus become our Advocate, and God become our Father. The righteous Judge (Psalm 89:14) get power to declare guilty person innocent — and He don do am through Christ.

This “not guilty” verdict dey available for everybody. You no dey earn am; you dey receive am. Jesus na the only way to stand innocent before God (John 14:6). If you never accept Him as your defence attorney, think am today. And when the enemy remind you of your past, talk boldly: “God don drop the charges. I no guilty.”

You dey forgiven. 

You dey redeemed. 

You dey justified. 

You no dey guilty.

·       Which area of my life I still dey carry guilt instead of enjoying the freedom of Romans 8:1?
