THE SPIRIT OF BOLDNESS!
2 Timothy 1:7 AMP
For God did not give us a
spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear, but [He has given us a spirit] of
power and of love and of sound judgment and personal discipline [abilities that
result in a calm, well-balanced mind and self-control].
Boldness is not natural
confidence, personality strength, or human courage. It is the spiritual
empowerment that comes from the Holy Spirit. Boldness is the opposite of fear.
It is the supernatural ability to speak, act, and stand for God without
intimidation, hesitation, or shame.
Boldness is the nature of
the Spirit of God. Wherever the Holy Spirit is present, fear loses its grip.
When the early church prayed, “grant unto Your servants boldness” according to Acts
4:29, the place shook, and they were filled with the Holy Spirit. Immediately,
they spoke the Word with boldness. This shows us that boldness is not self‑generated; it is Spirit‑generated.
A believer who does not know
who they are in Christ cannot walk in boldness. Proverbs 28:1 says, “The
righteous are bold as a lion.” Boldness flows from righteousness—knowing you
are accepted, forgiven, empowered, and backed by Heaven. When you understand
your identity, fear loses its authority.
David displayed this
identity‑driven boldness when he
faced Goliath. He did not rely on his size or skill; he relied on the God who
was with him in 1 Samuel 17:45–47.
His boldness came from revelation, not physical strength.
The Word of God builds
courage. Joshua was commanded, “Be strong and very courageous… this Book of the
Law shall not depart from your mouth” in Joshua 1:7–8. God was teaching Joshua
that boldness grows where the Word dwells. When the Word fills your heart, fear
cannot dominate your mind.
Jeremiah tried to hold back
God’s message, but the Word became “like fire shut up in my bones” according to
Jeremiah 20:9. The Word ignited boldness in him.
Before Pentecost, Peter was
fearful. He denied Jesus three times. But after the Holy Spirit came upon him,
he stood before thousands and preached with authority as seen in Acts 2:14–41.
The same man who once trembled before a servant girl now confronted religious
leaders without fear.
This transformation shows
that the Spirit of boldness is not human bravery—it is divine empowerment.
Every divine assignment
requires boldness. Moses needed boldness to confront Pharaoh. Esther needed
boldness to approach the king. Daniel needed boldness to pray despite the
threat of the lions’ den. Paul needed boldness to preach in hostile cities.
Without boldness, gifts
remain unused, callings remain dormant, and destinies remain unfulfilled.
Boldness opens doors.
Boldness breaks barriers. Boldness silences the enemy. Boldness advances the
Kingdom.
Boldness confronts fear and darkness.
Fear is one of Satan’s
strongest weapons. It paralyses, silences, and limits. But boldness destroys
fear. When Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego boldly refused to bow to
Nebuchadnezzar’s idol according to Daniel 3:16–18, fear lost its power. Their
boldness brought divine intervention.
Boldness is not the absence
of danger; it is the refusal to bow to fear.
Boldness is not arrogance.
It is not rudeness. It is not loudness. True boldness is rooted in love and
truth. Paul prayed that he would “speak boldly, as I ought to speak” declares Ephesians
6:19–20. Boldness is the courage to speak truth even when it is unpopular, to
stand for righteousness even when it is costly, and to represent Christ even
when it is risky.
When believers walk in
boldness, miracles follow because boldness produces results. The apostles
healed the sick, cast out demons, and preached with power because they operated
in boldness. Boldness attracts the supernatural.
When you step out in
boldness, Heaven steps in with power.
