THE SUPERNATURAL LIFE!

Mark 16:16-18 GNT

Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved; whoever does not believe will be condemned. [17] Believers will be given the power to perform miracles: they will drive out demons in my name; they will speak in strange tongues; [18] if they pick up snakes or drink any poison, they will not be harmed; they will place their hands on sick people, and these will get well."

The supernatural life is not a special category reserved for a few “anointed” Christians; it is the inheritance of every believer who walks by faith in Christ. Jesus made this unmistakably clear when He declared, “These signs shall follow them that believe.” Signs are not meant to be chased; they are meant to follow. This means the supernatural is not an occasional interruption of normal life, but a continual expression of God’s power working through ordinary believers who trust Him.

The key to the supernatural life is found in the opening words of Mark 16:16: “He that believeth…” Faith is the doorway into the supernatural. Every manifestation of God’s power in Scripture is connected to belief. Faith is not emotional excitement, noise, or hype; it is steady confidence in God’s Word, even when circumstances argue otherwise.

Throughout Scripture, God consistently responds to faith.

The woman with the issue of blood reached out in faith and touched Jesus, and her healing followed her belief (Mark 5:34).

Blind Bartimaeus refused to allow opposition to silence him; his persistent faith brought sight (Mark 10:46–52).

Abraham believed God against all odds, and that faith made him the father of many nations (Romans 4:18–21).

These examples reveal a powerful truth: faith activates heaven. The supernatural life begins where trust in God’s Word replaces dependence on what the natural eye can see.

Jesus went further in Mark 16:17 by stating, “In My name…” Supernatural authority is released through the name of Jesus. His name is not a religious slogan or ritual phrase—it is divine authority backed by heaven. The early church understood this clearly and acted boldly in the power of His name.

Peter commanded a lame man to rise and walk in the name of Jesus, and the man was instantly healed (Acts 3:6).

Paul cast out a spirit of divination by invoking the authority of Jesus’ name (Acts 16:16–18).

Even demons recognised the authority of Jesus and responded with submission (Mark 1:23–27).

To live a supernatural life is to live consciously aware of the authority you carry as a believer in Christ. It is walking daily with the understanding that heaven has endorsed the name you speak.

The supernatural life also includes divine protection. Jesus declared that believers would handle serpents and not be harmed by deadly poison. This is not an invitation to reckless behaviour or testing God; rather, it is a promise of protection while fulfilling God’s assignment. When God sends, He also shields.

Paul experienced this protection when a viper fastened onto his hand on the island of Malta—yet he suffered no harm (Acts 28:3–6).

Daniel survived the lions’ den because God shut the mouths of the lions (Daniel 6:22).

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego walked out of the fiery furnace without even the smell of smoke on them (Daniel 3:27).

The supernatural life is a life lived under divine covering. God’s power does not merely work through believers—it surrounds them.

Finally, Jesus highlighted supernatural compassion when He said, “They shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” Healing is not only a demonstration of authority; it is an expression of God’s mercy and love. God’s power is always connected to His compassion for people.

Jesus touched the leper and healed him, moved by compassion (Mark 1:41).

The apostles anointed the sick with oil and healed many (Mark 6:13).

James instructed the church to pray for the sick with expectation and faith (James 5:14–15).

The supernatural life is not about personal glory or spiritual status. It is about revealing God’s heart—bringing healing, hope, deliverance, and restoration to a broken world.

When believers embrace the supernatural life, the gospel becomes more than words. It becomes power in action. Faith releases authority, authority brings transformation, and transformation glorifies God. This is the life Jesus intended every believer to live.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

·       Where in my life have I limited God by expecting only the natural instead of believing for the supernatural?

·       How can I grow in using the authority of Jesus’ name with both confidence and humility?

·       Who around me needs healing, compassion, or freedom that God desires to release through me?

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, thank You for calling me into a supernatural life. Strengthen my faith, deepen my obedience, and help me walk daily in Your authority and power. Use my hands to heal, my voice to declare Your Word, and my life to reveal Your glory. Amen.
