CHILD-FRIENDLY ABUSE IS UNACCEPTABLE!
Psalm 10:17-18 ICB
Lord, you have heard what
the poor people want. Do what they ask. Listen to them. [18] Protect the
orphans. Put an end to suffering. Then they will no longer be afraid of evil
people.
Abuse is when someone uses
their words, strength, or position to hurt, control, or frighten another
person. It can happen at home, in school, in friendships, or even in church.
Abuse makes a person feel scared, small, or unimportant, and it can damage their
heart, confidence, and sense of worth. Abuse is never right, and God does not
want anyone to live in fear or pain.
Some people do not realise
they are being abused because they think it is normal. Others stay quiet
because they feel afraid or ashamed. Even some Christians think they must
accept abuse to “be good,” but that is not true. God never asks His children to
stay in situations that harm them. Abuse is not love, and it is not God’s plan.
There are many kinds of
abuse: physical (hurting the body), emotional (hurtful words), mental
(confusing or controlling someone), verbal (shouting or insulting), sexual,
financial, and spiritual abuse. The Bible teaches us to treat others with
kindness. Colossians 3:19 tells husbands not to be harsh, and Colossians 3:21
tells parents not to crush their children’s spirits. God wants homes and
churches to be safe places.
God sees every hurt. Psalm
10:17–18 says He hears the cries of those who are mistreated. Jesus came to set
people free (Luke 4:18–19). No one has the right to make you feel worthless or
afraid. John 8:36 says Jesus gives true freedom, and He wants you to live in
peace, joy, and safety.
If you are being mistreated,
talk to a safe adult or leader you trust. Psalm 118:7 says God is on your side.
He will help you find people who care for you.
