CHILD-FRIENDLY BUT SOMETIMES THE APPLE FALLS FAR!

 2 Corinthians 5:17 ICB

If anyone belongs to Christ, then he is made new. The old things have gone; everything is made new!

 

People often say, “The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree,” meaning children usually act like their parents. But sometimes, with God’s help, a person can grow very differently from their family. Sometimes God helps someone break old habits and start a brand‑new story. The Bible shows this again and again. God loves to help people rise above their past and build a new future with Him.

Think about Gideon. His family worshipped idols, and he felt small and afraid. But God called him a “mighty man of valour.” Gideon chose God instead of idols and became a brave leader. He showed that God’s plan is stronger than family patterns.

Hezekiah is another example. His father, King Ahaz, did many wrong things and led the nation away from God. But Hezekiah chose to do what was right. He opened the temple again and helped the whole nation return to God. He proved that you can choose a different path.

Jonathan, the son of King Saul, also lived differently. Saul was jealous and disobedient, but Jonathan was loyal, kind, and brave. He supported David, God’s chosen king, even though it cost him his throne. Jonathan showed that doing right is a choice.

Josiah is one more example. His father and grandfather were wicked kings, but Josiah loved God. He removed idols and helped the people obey God again. He showed that God can bring goodness out of a bad family history.

Maybe your family has habits you don’t want to repeat. But in Christ, you are a new creation. You can start new patterns of love, faith, and obedience. God can plant you in a new place and help you grow a new story.

PRAYER: Father, thank You for helping me start new patterns. Thank You that in Christ, I am a new creation. Help me grow in Your purpose and build a good legacy. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
