CHILD-FRIENDLY THE RISING DEMONS!

Deuteronomy 32:15-18 ICB

Israel grew fat and kicked. They were fat and full and firm. They left the God who made them. They rejected the Rock who saved them. [16] They made God jealous with foreign gods. They made him angry with hated idols. [17] They made sacrifices to demons, not God. They were gods they had never known. They were new gods from nearby. Your ancestors did not fear them. [18] You left God who is the Rock, your Father. You forgot the God who gave you birth.

 

Deuteronomy 32:15–18 tells us about people who became too comfortable and forgot the God who made them. Instead of loving God, they started following other gods that were not real. This warning is also for us today. Many people in the world have stopped following the true God and are now copying things that do not please Him.

Just like in the book of Judges, people now do whatever they think is right, even when it is wrong. Some things that used to be called “sin” are now called “freedom.” Things that used to be hidden are now shown everywhere. Even children are copying scary and evil characters because they look “cool” on TV, music, games and social media.

The Bible teaches us that demons are fallen angels (Revelation 12:9). Satan and his demons try to trick people and pull them away from God. Sometimes demons influence people to do wrong things, and sometimes they pretend to be good so people will follow them. But no matter how they act, demons are still enemies of God—and they are already defeated by Jesus.

Today, demons try to enter music, movies, books, fashion and entertainment to spread fear, lies and sin. They want people to think evil is normal. But God wants us to stay alert and not play with things that open the door to darkness.

We cannot defeat the demons we enjoy or tolerate. But we can stand strong because Jesus has already won the battle. God wants us to put on the armour of God every day and resist the devil (James 4:7).

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

•   Are there things I watch, listen to or enjoy that make it easier for the enemy to influence me?

•   Am I resisting the devil or allowing things God does not like?

•   How can I put on God’s armour every day and stay alert?

PRAYER: Lord, help me not to listen to demons or believe their lies. Remind me that they must obey Your power. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
