CHILD-FRIENDLY WHEN GOD LOOKS FOR A MAN!

 Ezekiel 22:29-31 ICB

The people cheat others. They steal. They hurt people who are poor and needy. They cheat foreigners and don't treat them fairly. [30] "I looked for someone to build up the walls. I looked for someone to stand before me where the walls are broken to defend these people. Then I would not have to destroy them. But I did not find anyone. [31] So I will let them see my anger. I will destroy them with an anger that is like fire. This is because of all the things they have done, says the Lord God."

 

This Bible passage shows a very serious moment. God looked at the land and saw many wrong things happening. People were hurting others, stealing, cheating, and treating the poor badly. But the saddest part is in verse 30, where God says He looked for someone who would pray and stand in the gap—but He found no one. God was not only sad about the sin; He was sad that nobody prayed.

This scripture teaches us something important: before judgment comes, God always looks for a person who will pray. God wants to show mercy first, not punishment. But mercy needs someone who will pray and ask God to help.

All through the Bible, God looked for people who would stand in the gap. Abraham prayed for Sodom, and God was willing to save the whole place if He found just ten good people. Moses prayed for Israel when they sinned, and God spared them. Aaron ran into the middle of the people during a plague and prayed, and the plague stopped because one man moved.

Ezekiel’s time had three big problems:

Moral failure — People were doing wrong and hurting others.

Leadership failure — Leaders were not teaching the truth.

Intercessory failure — Nobody prayed for the land.

When people stop praying, darkness grows stronger. But God’s heart is full of mercy. He is always looking for someone who will pray and ask Him to help.

Jesus is the perfect One who stood in the gap for us. But God still wants us to pray for our families, churches, and nations. To stand in the gap means taking responsibility and praying until things change.

May God find you willing to stand.
