PIDGIN WHEN GOD LOOKS FOR A MAN!

 Ezekiel 22:29–31 “9 Doz wey get money dey shit and tif from oda pipol. Dem dey ponish poor pipol and dey kollect strenjas propaty.

30 “I fine pesin wey fit build di wall; pesin wey fit stand for where di wall for fall kon tok for di town wen my vexnashon won distroy am, but I nor si anybody. 31 So, I go pour my vexnashon for dia head kon distroy dem with fire, bikos of di bad tins wey dem do.”

God wey get pawa don tok.

 

Dis scripture paint one of di most serious pictures for Bible. God look di land and see violence, oppression, injustice, and corruption everywhere. Di people “use oppression, do robbery, and vex di poor and needy.” But di most painful line dey for verse 30: “And I look for a man among them… but I no find any.” God no just vex because of di sin wey full di nation; e pain am say nobody stand as intercessor, nobody stand for gap.

Dis passage show us one divine pattern: anytime judgment wan near, God first dey find person—somebody wey go stand between heaven and earth, somebody wey go cry out, somebody wey go resist wickedness and beg for mercy. Judgment no be God first move; mercy na Him first move. But mercy need person wey go carry am.

For Bible, God dey always find dis kain people. For Genesis 18, Abraham stand before God for Sodom matter. Even though di city wicked, Abraham prayer delay judgment and show say God ready to spare whole region if Him fit see even ten righteous people. For Exodus 32, when Israel sin with golden calf, God tell Moses, “Leave Me alone…” (Exodus 32:10). Dat one alone show say Moses prayer dey hold judgment. Moses stand for gap, and di nation survive.

For Numbers 16:48, when plague start because of rebellion, Aaron run enter di middle of di people with incense—symbol of prayer—and “stand between the dead and the living.” Di plague stop because one man move.

All dis examples show wetin Ezekiel 22 reveal: judgment dey increase when intercession disappear. God no dey only dey offended by sin; Him dey, dey wounded when Him people keep quiet. When nobody stand for gap, di land open for attack.

Ezekiel generation get three big failures:

Moral failure — Dem oppress di weak, cheat di vulnerable, and turn injustice to normal.

Leadership failure — Prophets cover sin (Ezekiel 22:28), priests break God law (v. 26), and princes chop di people (v. 27).

Intercessory failure — Nobody stand before God for di land (v. 30).

When intercessors disappear, na di last sign say nation don collapse. When righteous people stop to pray, darkness go begin gain ground. When watchmen sleep, enemy go enter without challenge. When altar cold, di land go sick.

But dis passage still show something deep about God heart: God dey always find person. God no dey look for destruction; He dey look for redemption. Even inside judgment, He dey find reason to show mercy. He dey find voice wey go cry, “Spare Your people, O Lord” (Joel 2:17). He dey find heart wey go feel wetin Him dey feel and stand where Him dey stand.

Na why Jesus be di full fulfilment of Ezekiel 22:30. Na Him be di Man wey stand for gap once and for all (1 Timothy 2:5). Him bridge di gap between God and humanity, take judgment so mercy fit flow. But even with Christ finished work, God still dey call His people to join am for intercession. We no dey replace Christ work; we dey enforce am.

For our generation today, di cry of Ezekiel 22 loud well. Injustice, violence, corruption, and moral confusion full everywhere. But God still dey search. He dey look for intercessors for homes, churches, cities, and nations. He dey look for women like Deborah, wey rise as mother for Israel (Judges 5:7). Men like Daniel, wey pray until heaven answer (Daniel 10:12). And believers wey no go silent, passive, or careless.

To stand for gap mean say you dey take responsibility for di spiritual condition around you. E mean say you no go allow darkness move freely. E mean say you dey carry God burden until mercy break through. E mean say, “Lord, if You dey find person, make You see me.”

Make God no ever look our generation, come say, “I no find any man.” Make Him find you. Make Him find me. Make Him find people wey go stand.

·       Where God dey call you make you take your place as intercessor for your family, church, or nation

·       Wetin you dey see for your environment—whether injustice or spiritual wahala—wey dey push you to pray and take responsibility

PRAYER: Lord, make me person wey go stand for gap. Give me Your heart for my generation. Make my prayers rise like incense and push back darkness. Strengthen me to carry Your burden until mercy win. Make my life be altar wey Your fire no go ever quench. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
