THE RISING DEMONS!

 Deuteronomy 32:15-18 LSB

“But Jeshurun grew fat and kicked—You grew fat, thick, and sleek—Then he abandoned God who made him, And treated the Rock of his salvation with wicked foolishness. [16] “They made Him jealous with strange gods; With abominations they provoked Him to anger. [17] “They sacrificed to demons who were not God, To gods whom they have not known, New gods who came lately, Whom your fathers did not dread. [18] “You neglected the Rock who begot you, And forgot the God who brought you forth.

 

Deuteronomy 32:15-18 gives a sobering picture of a people who grew comfortable, forgot the God who made them, and turned their hearts towards strange gods. It is not merely an ancient warning; it is a mirror held before our generation. Nations have forsaken the One true God, the Creator of all things, and are now chasing after creation while rejecting the Holy One, the Rock of our salvation, for imposters that cannot save.

History is repeating itself. Just as in the days of Judges, when “everyone did what was right in their own eyes,” our world has become bold in rebellion, proud in deception, and careless with holiness. The question is no longer whether darkness is rising, but whether the people of God can still discern it.

Society, and sadly even parts of the church, are no longer hiding their attraction to evil. What was once resisted is now celebrated; what was once called sin is now dressed up as freedom; and what was once darkness is being paraded as light.

Even children are copying and emulating demonic images and behaviours because evil has been packaged to look attractive, powerful, fashionable, and prosperous. Demons are no longer hiding in the shadows; they are being normalised on screens, stages, platforms, and in the minds of the next generation.

Revelation 12:9 calls Demons fallen angels. The ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.” Satan’s fall from heaven is symbolically described in Isaiah 14:12–15 and Ezekiel 28:12–15. When he fell, Satan took one-third of the angels with him, according to  verse 4. Jude 6 also mentions angels who sinned, choosing to rebel against God.

Yet these are the ones being celebrated and applauded on the stages of life as heroes, celebrities and idols (this they certainly are).

Demons are satan’s agents who join Satan in attempting to lead the world away from God and into sin as he’s clearly doing today. Demons can “demonize” people, meaning they can influence, oppress, or possess them. Demons can also take shapes, and forms, and be visible to humans, especially those in cahoots with them, willing to do their bidding and sell their souls for the fleeting pleasure it gives them.

Demons, as spirit beings, can take possession of a physical body and are evil supernatural spirits. But we know from Matthew 12:24, that demons can be cast out.

Demons are rising daily! They have so risen that they’ve infiltrated the music industry, producing hate-filled, sensual, subliminal messages that create chaos and more wickedness. They have and are creating movies depicting all kinds of evil and blasphemy, even starring in them with so much wickedness and fear that they could only have come from hell. Meanwhile, their publishing industries produce books that are full of incantations, chants and spells to summon, celebrate and obey the devil while polluting minds with their filth. The fashion industry is so far gone that people, especially women, including so-called Christian women parade about in so skimpy clothes that their privates are now their publics.

The demons have risen to obscure their eyes and they’re unaware that they are perishing and dying spiritually because the same demons have blinded their eyes as said in 2 Corinthians 4:4.

It seems the demons have done a good job of disguising themselves as angels of light described in 2 Corinthians 11:14-15 that people are willingly selling their souls to the devil.

No matter how good the demons express, exhibit and show, they are still demons and enemies of God but defeated enemies.

Today, we see demons, sometimes called spirits, influencing people and even taking over their bodies.

We must remember that we can’t defeat the demons we condone, tolerate and enjoy playing with.

A spiritual war of good and evil is going on all around us, but it's important to remember that Satan and his demons are defeated enemy, conquered by Jesus Christ on Calvary.

As Christians, we must guard ourselves against spiritual attack by putting on the armour of God and dwelling in the Word.

We must obey James 4:7 and resist the devil and his agents at all costs.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

·         What areas of my life have I allowed the enemy to influence through compromise, entertainment, relationships, or hidden desires?

·         Am I truly resisting the devil as James 4:7 commands, or have I been tolerating what God has called me to reject?

·         How can I put on the armour of God daily and remain alert against deception disguised as light?

PRAYER: Lord, help me not to tolerate demons or listen to their lies and to remember that they are subject to your power in Jesus’ name. Amen.
