WHOSE SIDE ARE YOU ON?
Exodus 32:26 NET
So Moses stood at the
entrance of the camp and said, "Whoever is for the LORD, come to me."
All the Levites gathered around him,
“Whose side are you on?”
This is not just a question Moses asked the Israelites—it is a question the
Spirit of God continues to ask every believer today. In every sphere of life,
sides exist. Families expect loyalty, friends demand allegiance, workplaces
require commitment, and society constantly pressures us to choose one side over
another. But above all these voices stands the voice of the Lord of Hosts
asking a far more important question: Are you on the Lord’s side?
Every day, consciously or
unconsciously, we take sides. Sometimes we side with convenience, comfort,
emotions, or popular opinion. Other times we side with people simply to
maintain peace or avoid conflict. But God is not asking for partial loyalty or
occasional agreement—He is asking for total allegiance.
When Moses descended from
Mount Sinai and saw the people worshipping the golden calf, he stood at the
entrance of the camp and cried out, “Who is on the Lord’s side?” (Exodus
32:26). This was not a casual invitation; it was a call to separation, courage,
and uncompromising loyalty. Only the sons of Levi stepped forward. They chose
God even when it was unpopular, uncomfortable, and dangerous. Their decision
marked them as people God could trust.
Being on the Lord’s side is
not always glamorous. It may require standing alone, being misunderstood, or
taking actions that challenge the culture around you. It may mean refusing to
bow to idols—not golden calves, but modern idols such as money, fame, relationships,
careers, pleasure, or self‑will.
Idolatry today is subtle; it hides in priorities, desires, and habits. Anything
that takes God’s
place in your heart becomes an idol.
Many believers slip into
idolatry not because they reject God, but because they refuse to take a stand.
They drift. They compromise. They try to serve God and serve themselves at the
same time. But Jesus made it clear in Matthew 12:30: “He who is not with Me is
against Me.” There is no neutral ground. Revelation 3:15‑16 warns that lukewarmness—trying to stand in the
middle—is unacceptable to God. It
is either the Lord’s
side or no side at all.
We often ask, “Is God on my
side?” But Scripture shows that this is the wrong question. In Joshua 5:13‑14, when Joshua encountered
the Commander of the Lord’s
army, he asked, “Are
You for us or for our adversaries?” The
answer was startling: “No.” In other words, “I am not here to take sides—I am here to take over.” God is not obligated to
support our personal agendas. Instead, He invites us to align with His will,
His purpose, and His kingdom.
Romans 8:31 assures us that
God is for us—but He is for us as long as we are aligned with Him. God does not
take sides against His own Word, His own principles, or His own righteousness.
When we stand with Him, He stands with us. When we choose His side, we walk in
His protection, His peace, and His victory.
Choosing the Lord’s side
means:
- Standing for truth even
when lies are more popular
- Choosing holiness when
compromise seems easier
- Obeying God when obedience
costs you something
- Prioritizing His kingdom
above personal ambition
- Saying “yes” to His will
even when you don’t understand it
The Levites chose God that
day, and God chose them forever. Their loyalty positioned them for priesthood,
service, and generational blessing. Your decision today carries the same
weight. Heaven is watching. Hell is watching. The world is watching. Whose side
are you on?
This is not a question to
answer lightly. It is a question that demands action, surrender, and daily
commitment. God is calling His people to take a stand—not for religion, not for
convenience, but for Him.
Whose side are you on?
