KINDNESS!

 Proverbs 19:17 AMP

He who is gracious and lends a hand to the poor lends to the LORD, And the LORD will repay him for his good deed.

 

Kindness is wisdom. Kindness is charity. Kindness is generosity. Kindness carries reward. Kindness is the wisdom that lends to God. Proverbs 19:17 means that Heaven notices every act of sincere kindness. When we bless others, especially those who may never be able to repay us, God receives it as service rendered unto Him.

Everyday acts of generosity—financial, emotional, spiritual, or practical—carry eternal weight. A smile offered to the discouraged, a listening ear given to the weary, a meal shared with someone struggling, a timely message, or a quiet prayer may look small in human eyes, but they are powerful before God. Heaven records them, God receives them, and His Word promises reward.

Kindness is wisdom because it recognises what truly matters. Proverbs 11:25 says, “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” Micah 6:8 reminds us to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with God. A wise person does not live only for self, comfort, or gain, but understands that life becomes richer when poured out in love.

Kindness is also charity, and charity is love in action. It is compassion expressed through tangible care. 1 John 3:17 challenges us with a serious question: “If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person?” True love is not passive. It notices needs. It responds. It gives. It serves. It makes room for others.

Charity is not measured by the size of a gift but by the sincerity of the heart. Jesus praised the widow who gave two small coins because her offering carried faith, sacrifice, and devotion. Kindness becomes charity when it costs you something—time, comfort, resources, forgiveness, patience, or attention.

Kindness is generosity, and generosity is the overflow of a heart touched by God. 2 Corinthians 9:7–8 reminds us that God loves a cheerful giver and can make all grace abound. A generous life is not empty; it is continually refreshed by grace. The hand that gives in obedience becomes a channel through which God can keep flowing.

Generosity is not limited to finances. It includes patience with someone still growing, forgiveness toward someone who has failed, encouragement for someone losing courage, and presence for someone feeling alone. Sometimes the most generous thing you can give is attention. In a noisy world, listening deeply is mercy.

Kindness carries reward. Proverbs 19:17 assures us that God Himself repays kindness. The reward may not always come in the form we expect, but it will never be forgotten. It may come as peace in your heart, divine favour, unexpected provision, strength in weakness, joy that cannot be explained, relationships restored, or doors opened that no human could open.

God does not forget kindness. Hebrews 6:10 assures us: “God is not unjust; He will not forget your work and the love you have shown Him as you have helped His people.” Even when no one applauds, God sees. Even when no one says thank you, God remembers. Even when your kindness is misunderstood, Heaven keeps accurate records.

The Bible is full of examples that show the power of kindness. Ruth showed kindness to Naomi, and God rewarded her with favour, provision, and a place in the lineage of Christ. The Good Samaritan showed compassion to a stranger. Barnabas encouraged the early church. Jesus Himself moved with compassion—healing, feeding, restoring, and welcoming the rejected.

These examples remind us that kindness shifts atmospheres, heals wounds, softens hearts, and reveals God’s nature. One act of kindness can interrupt despair, restore dignity, and open a door for someone to encounter Christ’s love. Do not underestimate the seed you sow when you choose mercy over judgement and generosity over selfishness.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

·       Where is God inviting me to show intentional kindness this week—especially to someone who cannot repay me?

·       Which small, everyday acts of generosity can I begin practicing to cultivate a lifestyle of kindness?

·       How has God rewarded me in the past for acts of compassion, and what does that teach me about His nature?

PRAYER: Lord, make my heart tender and generous like Yours. Teach me to see every act of kindness as a sacred offering to You. Help me give with joy, serve with compassion, and love with sincerity. Deliver me from selfishness, indifference, and hardness of heart. Open my eyes to the needs around me, for my life to reflect Your grace, and kindness to create ripples of healing, hope, and transformation, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
